The Blind Boys of Alabama thrill and inspire audiences the world over. Formed at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind in 1939, The Blind Boys continue to create critically acclaimed recordings and reach new career heights even today. The group has been featured on “60 Minutes,” “Regis & Kelly,” “The Tonight Show” and the “Late Show with David Letterman”. They have performed on the 2005 Grammy Awards telecast, and appeared in the 2003 movie “The Fighting Temptations” alongside Beyonce and Cuba Gooding Jr. The Blind Boys were inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and awarded the NEA’s Heritage Fellowship for Lifetime Achievement: earning them the true distinction of “living gospel legends.”
“Inspired and relevant... borders on the miraculous.” – Bill Friskics-Warren, The Washington Post, (upon the release of their newest album Down in New Orleans)
“From the invention of television to the invention of the internet, through world wars and cold wars, from FDR to Barack Obama, and now well into their eighth decade of touring, writing and recording, the Blind Boys have not only faithfully remained, endured and persevered, they have evolved, thrived, and flourished as the premier purveyors of gospel music the world over.” – Ben Harper
