RHYTHMIC CIRCUS

Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 7:30 p.m.

Riceland Hall, Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Dr., Jonesboro.

Rhythmic Circus has quickly risen from an underground percussive-dance phenomenon to an innovative live performance company known for transforming their tap shoes into instruments of rhythm. The Minneapolis Star Tribune put it well when they called the dance troupe “Flat out amazing!”

Infusing their unpredictable blend of hard-hitting tap, high-spirited humor, and finger-snapping tunes, Rhythmic Circus satisfies their “rhythmic appetite” on everything from sand to folding chairs. The performance will take place at 7:30 pm in Riceland Hall at the Fowler Center on the campus of Arkansas State University. This unforgettable show is guaranteed to leave audiences of all ages amazed with its unique “you have to see it to believe it” quality!

The mission of Rhythmic Circus Productions is to present original percussive dance works, serve communities at large by providing outreach and arts education opportunities, and to cultivate appreciation of the distinctly American art form of tap. In conjunction with this presentation, Continuing Education and Community Outreach is offering a master class. A discounted ticket to the evening performance will be available to anyone enrolling in the class. For additional information regarding the master class please call (870) 972-3052.

Feet Don’t fail Me Now! premiered in August of 2008 at the Ritz Theatre in Minneapolis, MN when the company’s dancers and founders, Nick Bowman and Ricci Milan connected with fellow dancers, Kaleena Miller and Eddie Strachan, and Twin Cities’ heavyweight musicians Alex Rossi, Aaron “Heatbox” Heaton, Dan Ristrom, Cornell Blanchard, Patrick Nelson, Jason Marks and Elliot Blaufuss to integrate an inventive style of rapid-fire tap with a wide variety of musical genres. This collaboration resulted in a novel music and dance experience that truly appeals to audiences of all ages.
