Other performances planned this season include:

Forever Plaid - Sunday, November 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.

“Forever Plaid” is the deliciously goofy and charming story of a classic 1950s all-male singing group that returns from the Great Beyond to perform the show they never got to when their car was struck by a bus full of Catholic teens on their way to see the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan show. The Plaids are miraculously revived to perform the concert that never was in this hilariously nostalgic musical. They perform precision harmonies and execute delightfully outlandish choreography with perfection. The Plaids perform some of the greatest hits of the 1950s: “Catch a Falling Star,” “Three Coins in the Fountain,” and “Love Is a Many Splendored Thing.” Join us as their magic comes alive one last time on the stage of Riceland Hall.

Hot Club of San Francisco – “Cool Yule ” Monday, December 13, 2010 at 7:30 p.m.

Fire up your holidays with Hot Club Cool Yule, a swinging gypsy wagon trip to the North Pole featuring many of your favorite gems. Performed by The Hot Club of San Francisco in their inimitable style, reminiscent of Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of France, this holiday offering has something for everyone. Their Christmas album Cool Yule with its dazzling derangements of “Djingle Bells,” and “Don Rudolfo,” only further validates why this year’s Santa should ditch his sleigh in favor of a gypsy caravan. Make this season bright with the flames of Christmas gypsy jazz!

Alison Brown Quartet - Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. “with Special Guest Joe Craven”

Grammy winner Alison Brown takes the banjo and guitar far beyond their Appalachian roots, offering up an astonishingly original instrumental sound with a high octane blend of bluegrass, jazz, Celtic and Latin influences that has been described as simply jaw-dropping. An internationally recognized musician and the International Bluegrass Music Association Banjo Player of the year in 1991 Brown first came to national prominence when she was asked by Alison Krauss to join her band Union Station in 1989.

It’s an amazingly seductive marriage: one that never fails to turn new faces into fans. Featuring acclaimed contralto Nancy Johnston Craicmore’s music is deeply rooted in the music of Scotland and Ireland, driving rhythmic guitar, bass, and Bohdran combine with high-spirited flutes, whistles and bagpipes.
